El Dorado Seaside Palms: Mexico All-Inclusive Walk-through

We discovered paradise this winter at the El Dorado Seaside Palms Resort, Riviera Maya in Mexico.

Getaways by K travel agency hooked us up with this beautiful resort, and it did not disappoint. The El Dorado Seaside Palms is one of a trio of connected resorts about one hour south of Cancun. The trio includes Seaside Palms - a series of buildings nestled in a palm tree forest, Seaside Suites - a six story hotel building featuring swim out suites for every room, and the Hidden Beach - an au naturel resort fenced in between the two.

We chose a Beachfront Junior Suite, because proximity to the beach was one of our priorities. Many of the rooms in this resort feature swim-out suites, so if that's your thing, there are plenty of options with that amenity. Our room featured a comfortable king size bed, a couch and jacuzzi tub. The bathroom had double sinks, a walk-in shower, and clear glass on the toilet door. (We are not open door poopers, so we would have preferred a bit more privacy in the toilet room, but that was really the only downfall of the room.) Our maid created beautiful bed art for us a couple of the days during our trip, and the mini-bar is stocked daily.

We were just steps from the beautiful sand and sun, and we couldn't get enough of the Bali beds that lined the beach. There is nothing more relaxing that laying in a Bali bed at the beach with a frozen cocktail and the ocean breeze. Our room was also very close to the Frontera Bar and what I called a palm tree forest - a beautiful shaded area with hammocks and a snack stand.

The property is pretty large. We loved the spacious lush pathways and the exercise we got exploring the grounds. (By choice, we walked 4-5 miles per day, which helped keep the weight gain down from all the yummy food. There are several restaurant options for meals, and we were never disappointed. Reservations are needed for dinner locations, so we made those with our concierge the first morning of our trip. The beach in front of Seaside Suites is rocky and blocked by a wall. The beach in front of the Palms is beautiful with soft sand that they're constantly working to maintain.

As a couple rural Iowa folks who don't love to party, the night life was sufficient for us. We enjoyed the fire show, beach circus and live music. There were pool parties and late night events, but we LOVED that the party was confined and our room was still peaceful.

There's some fun wildlife on site at the resort. We didn't see "the monkey", but we did run across several lizards, Patches the cat, and some creatures called coati, which were similar to raccoons with long noses and monkey tails.

We've got one more video coming from this trip, where we'll ake a little trip to Playa Del Carmen's La Quinta (Fifth Avenue.)
